Community Connector

At Involve Northwest we recognise that there are inherent strengths in communities and on this basis we are taking forward the ABCD approach, which subscribes to the belief that it takes a village to raise a child. We are delighted to be able to offer 21 new positions within our Connect Us Service.

Community Connectors are part of the local aspiration to move towards stronger residents and neighbourhoods, and serve as that missing link for some people to access the things they need, to feel able to move forward and look to achieve goals and improve their well-being.

The Connect Us project works with individuals and communities, building on the Asset Based Community Development work in the borough. Community Connectors can explore the best ways to link residents into local services and activities, at the speed of trust. Helping people to expand networks, knowledge of their local area and feel part of and socially connected within their community, working on ‘what is strong and not what is wrong’.

This role will involve:

  • Discovering the dreams, skills and aspirations of community members.
  • Working with individuals to help them to develop and work towards their goals.
  • Connect people to and share information about local services, activities, groups and assets.
  • Listening to and asking community what they can do for themselves.
  • Encouraging a lively, inclusive and cohesive community.
  • Mobilising the community around a shared aspiration.

80% of this job will involve connecting and door knocking at a local (street/neighbourhood) level in the community.
