Job CoachLizzie Wainwright

Lizzie is currently working for Involve Northwest as part of the Reachout Team. She has been with the company since 2010 where she began working here as a Guidance Worker, which involved running the work clubs with her colleagues, and door knocking within the community. It is during this time that she gained an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance.

Due to changes within funding and the project itself, she now works as a Job Coach.

“I am extremely passionate about my role and find the role tremendously rewarding. Many clients begin their journey, not only with regards to employment but have many other barriers which we tackle and overcome with them on the way. It gives me great pleasure to see a client move from a difficult period in their life to a happier, productive place/future.”

In more recent years, Lizzie has taken it upon herself to train as a counsellor. Although she does not work as a counsellor within this role, it has enabled her to develop particular skills which allow her to work effectively and empathetically with clients to build a positive rapport. “It is when clients have this trust; they are able to address any presenting barriers and begin to take small steps to move forward.”

Recently both Brian and Lizzie have been working on a project called ‘Big Local’, which is a lottery-funded project to support particular areas on the Wirral (Ballantyne, Beechwood and Bidston). This has involved building positive relationships within the community and local schools to promote a funding pot to offer various training as and when necessary. She has found this project a refreshing and exciting challenge and is hoping with further funding they can continue to be involved.

“As a funded project, I believe people see the value of the work the ReachOut Team/Partnership does and hope to be given more, year upon year, to be here for many more years...”
