The Role

Involve Northwest is an innovative, community-based organisation.

At Involve Northwest we recognise that there are inherent strengths in communities and on this basis we are taking forward the ABCD approach, which subscribes to the belief that it takes a village to raise a child.

The Family Connector role is a partnership with North Birkenhead Cradle to Career and will work closely with the initiative to support local residents and the community.

Cradle to Career brings together the community, professionals and the leaders that serve North Birkenhead with a place-based, collective impact approach to improving outcomes for children and young people. The community voice is the driving force behind direction and interventions.

We are looking to recruit a Family Connector, who will connect with members of the community, engaging their talents and skills to identify what is important to the community.

 

Qualities and Attributes of a Family Connector:

  • Flexible, adaptable and a good listener.
  • An understanding of social isolation, health and wellbeing and some of the challenges that can be faced by different community members.
  • Team player with an open and honest manner and ability to build on effective relationships with a wide range of individuals.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with families, community leaders, local authority and professionals.
  • Ability to become part of a family’s development for the future.
  • Ability to ‘step back’ and enable families to do for themselves.
  • Able to priorities tasks, work load and good time management.
  • Motivational and empowering.
  • Political awareness with and ability to influence, challenge and support.
  • Believes everyone has something essential to contribute to build communities regardless of their past experience of the labels others have placed on them, and are focused on the ‘gifts’ of individuals.
  • The ability to monitor and report case work & statistics and work to specific project targets.
  • To ensure you represent to charity in the best manner at all times.

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential

  • Experience of working with families / children.
  • Ability to relate to families, support families and build strong relationships.
  • Community leadership and team building skills, strong facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • IT literate- competent in use of internet, email and web based communication systems.
  • Ability to research information from a range of sources.
  • Ability to produce quality monthly reports.
  • Experience of setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries with families.
  • Experience of working with a caseload of people/families within set case parameters.
  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience and understanding of mental health and social care services.
  • Monitoring and recording case work and statistics in relation to their role.
  • Experience of working to set contract targets.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with a caseload of people/families within set case parameters.
  • Experience and understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Experience and understanding of mental health and social care services.
  • Monitoring and recording case work and statistics in relation to their role.
  • Experience of working to set contract targets.
  • Ability to drive/access a vehicle for work purposes.
